What is the difference between an SFO and an MFO?
A single family office (SFO) is an organization created by and serving one family: the family funds its entire budget and controls it completely. A multi-family office (MFO) serves several families for asset-based or flat fees, sharing one professional team and platform across clients. The trade is control and customization (SFO) versus cost-sharing and immediate breadth (MFO). See /single-family-office, /multi-family-office, and /single-family-office-vs-multi-family-office.
